Likes this one from page one. Spoiler alert.This one starts with Vibeke who's been drafted because she worked as an EMT at one time. She's now working in the medical center sewing up bit wounds.
Tony her partner from Astra is running missions outside the wire for General Hammond.
Dax, the even tempered and a guy Tony calls Boy Scout is a greeter. He has a hard time thinking ill of anyone.
All that changes when bikers cut the fences to the center, the dead are walking and someone is using a tank to hit the buildings. Vib, Tony and Dax make it out and head for Hastings. A Hastings that they have lost contact with, a Hastings the General has told Tony to check out. With the camp overrun Vib and Dax are with Tony headed for Hastings and what a journey it turns out to be.
So begins a damned fine read.
This one has Vib, Tony, Dax, Evie the Golden Retriever who can sense and smell the undead way before the humans can see them, General Hammond, Dr. Samuels, research on the walking dead, a Vib, Tony and Dax who make it out of the encampment and head for Hastings, a drunken night spent in a bar, a hungover Vib, Tony and Dax, a kidnapped Vib, a Tony and Dax who rescue her, feuding biker gangs, a Vib who gets chased up a tree and then gets rescued by everyone favorite reporter, Gloria Fey, a Tony who is wounded in the leg saving Vib, Vijay who's Gloria's cameraman and one brave SOB, a Dax who saves the day, death, destruction, Gloria, Tony, Vib, Dax and Vijay arriving at Hastings, a Hastings who has a new commander and Vib and the crew doing their best to figure it all out, survive and stay alive.

I wish there were more of these books. I loved them both and think this writer has a real talent. I'm pretty picky when it comes to this kind of writer but I real feel that the author did a wonderful job of sucking me into the story.

Cool, but a little bit too much jumping from one catastrophe to next. Still one of the best zombie books i've read so far!
I really enjoyed Grave New World, but this book did not feel like a worthy sequel. It felt choppy and forced. The story did not flow well and the characters were harder to relate to.
OMG, this book was amazing! I can't wait until the next installment. Love Vibeke and the gang, and can't wait to see what happens with them at Hastings.
This wasn't as much fun as the first book in the series, but was still pretty good. I will get the next one in the chain, if more come.
Biker gangs have become quite common in zombie novels, so I admit I was a little worried about this becoming dull, but it did not. It was handled very well. I love Vibeke`s sarcasm. At the end of the world, things can always get worse! I can`t wait to see what`s in store for out friends in the next installment!
I'm torn between wanting Vibeke as my BFF, or never wanting to be anywhere near her. Not only does she keep winding up with zombies chasing her, but she managed to piss off numerous biker gangs and possibly the U.S. Army.
That said, this book is much the same vein as the first book. Lots of snark and fun, with zombies and biker gangs thrown in to keep things moving along. And Gloria? Who would have thought that a fluff reporter would get so down and dirty?
Read both and keep your fingers crossed there will be a third. Both books in the series have just the right combination of zombies and humor to keep you on your toes.
