Donna Marie's Gracie Mae: A Story of Courage and Love was a relaxing book to read. The plot shares one woman's path to allow her children and herself to escape an abusive marriage and begin the steps to reclaim her self esteem. While the characters are relatively true to the situation, many of their reactions are predictable and she is able to turn life around in a fraction of the time required by a true abuse victim. Although the book deals with abusive situations, the scenes never describe the horrible graphics lived by the abused. I do recommend reading the booK.

The story was great. Donna Marie writes in a way you feel you know the characters. I read the book in one day. I couldn't put it down ! Great spring read.
I really enjoyed this story and was able to connect well with the characters. It is a quick read, but the story is emotional and not necessarily an easy beach read. I also think it is wonderful that the author is donating a portion of the royalties to domestic abuse victims.
Gracie Mae is about a woman that is abused by her husband, and after years of abuse, she decides to leave. Going back to her home town, she and her children move in with her sister. When her children get sick, she takes them to the local pediatrician. There is an immediate attraction between them. From then on, everything moves too quickly to be real. The main characters, Gracie and John are too perfect. We get to know them pretty well, but all of the other characters seem to be just floating in the background. As for the narrator, she is a little stilted, but not so bad that I couldn't finish the book.

I loved this book! I had a hard time putting it down. The story was loving, sexy, tense and captivating.I would definitely recommend it. I am definitely a fan of Donna Marie.
This book is well written and the words were carefully chosen. It's a wonderful thing that part of the proceeds go to abused women's advocates too. Keep up the good work Donna Marie! This was a very good story and left me with wanting more of it when I finished the book.
Kind of sweet, but not much depth and very predictable. Could use a little editing, I.e. the name of the town changed from Sanford to Stanford. I guess if this is one of your first romance novels, you will probably enjoy it. It's just too similar to so many others. John, however, is a nice, sweet character, albeit a little too good to be true.
